Is your child joining Timaru School of Music for the first time, or returning for another year?

As places are limited, new students are first added to our waitlist. We review applications regularly and aim to offer available places at the start of each school term.

Please Note

  • Complete one waitlist application per child.
  • Most new students begin in our Introduction to Music programme.
  • We'll contact you if a suitable place becomes available.

Before you apply

Before submitting your details, please take a moment to review the key information below. This helps ensure the programme is the right fit and reduces unnecessary delays.

  • 1 Lessons are held after school at Waimataitai School in Timaru.
  • 2 Most students begin with Introduction to Music.
  • 3 Some older or experienced students may move directly into a group lesson.
  • 4 Students take lessons for one instrument at a time.
  • 5 Placements depend on availability.
  • 6 Students who complete Introduction to Music receive priority placement.
  • 7 Ensemble playing is invitation-based and comes at no extra cost.
