Music Education Continues Beyond Lessons
Timaru has a strong and growing music community, offering young musicians
opportunities to continue learning, performing and growing beyond the classroom.
For many students,
Timaru School of Music provides the first step into learning an instrument and building confidence through performance. As skills grow, students may choose to explore additional opportunities within the wider community, including local ensembles, orchestras and private tuition.
We encourage students to see,
Music as a lifelong journey. Whether that means continuing in school ensembles, joining community groups such as the Youth Orchestra, or simply enjoying music as a personal skill, Timaru offers a supportive environment for young musicians to grow.
